Publicity still from short film 'Victims': Hattie talking to Ellen shocked

It seems that my friend Chris Carr just can’t stay away from award nominations. Not content with the two Webbys we almost won for The Toadlickers, his latest production Victims has just been nominated for Film London’s Best of Boroughs Awards 2011. Continue reading “More Victims”

Nominated for 2 Webby Awards!

Breaking News – ‘The Toadlickers‘ music video that I directed and produced for Thomas Dolby last year has just been nominated for not one, but two Webby Awards!

The Webby’s are The Oscars of the web, so this is quite a big deal!

The Toadlickers is one of five music videos nominated in the ONLINE FILM & VIDEO > MUSIC category of The Webby People’s Voice Award.

Licking Toads with Thomas Dolby.

A few months ago, Thomas Dolby invited me to direct his first music video of the 21st century!

The track, entitled ‘The Toadlickers’, is about a group of scientists who live in the hills of Snowdonia, get high licking toads, get the munchies and come out at night to raid sweetshops.

Given the song’s banjo ‘n’ fiddle heavy roots Americana, some might see it as something of a radical departure for him, but I beg to differ! Infectious melodies…surreal humour…mad scientists…impeccable production…it’s classic Dolby!

Since Thomas has always had a penchant for pushing the envelope, it seemed only fitting to shoot the video with the latest cutting edge technology, which is why I chose Canon EOS 5D Mark IIs. I’ll be posting more about this soon. In the meantime…enjoy!
