Final Cut Pro X at FCPUG London Supermeet?

This Thursday (23rd June), Final Cut Pro User Group Network (FCPUG) will hold a SuperMeet in London. It will feature Final Cut Pro guru, Larry Jordan, and the big question is will he or won’t he…be showing the new Final Cut Pro X?

For those who haven’t been following the story, it was Larry who, back in February, broke the news that he’d been shown a ‘jaw dropping’ preview of the new FCP and was under NDA. Then, in April, at NAB, Apple gave a ‘sneak peak’ of ‘Final Cut Pro X’, which they promised would ship in June. Larry’s blog about this sneak peak, ‘The Sound of 1,700 Jaws Dropping’, has been much quoted, however, it was tempered by a speech he subsequently gave to the FCPUG, in which he infamously remarked that FCP was not ready for Professional use. Following a maelstrom of internet activity, he recently issued the following clarification “I believed that then. I don’t believe it now.”

All of which intrigue brings us back to the original question. With only ten days for Apple to make good on their promise and rumours that Final Cut Pro X will be released this week, will it appear tomorrow and be demoed by Larry on Thursday, or will we have to wait a little longer…? If I know, I’m not telling… What I am telling is that for £15 SuperMeet looks like a bargain. You can find out more and book tickets here.
